Probe beam deflection technique (PBDT)

PBDT is a revolution in acoustic wave detection offering high sensitivity, broad bandwidth, and innate direction sensing in an all optical system allowing for compact, simple, and rugged designs.

PBDT is a platform technology but the first EchoLase product will be a laser based high definition medical ultrasound device, which will best showcase the outstanding capabilities of the PBDT based sensor. EchoLase has developed the sensor in house and is partnering with key companies in order to rapidly develop an ultrasound transducer that generates pressure waves with a laser and detects the reflected signal with the laser-based PBDT sensor. Such a system will deliver high bandwidth, high definition images at a fraction of the cost of traditional transducers all while being far more durable and able to withstand active and harsh environments.
